Toyosi Fagbo - #EndSARS: Silence of Echoes
"Silence of Echoes" is a short documentary that explores Nigeria's corruption, censorship and the police brutality of the Special Armed Robbery (SARS) unit.
Through interviews and carefully woven archive and graphics, the film tells the story of how the #EndSARS movement, made up young Nigerians, used social media to share their experiences, organise protests and build momentum and political pressure towards ending SARS. The documentary looks at state level misinformation and media collusion, and raises questions about trust in official records and media narratives. It encourages reflection on the danger of silence, the power of information and using your voice, and the long road ahead for young Nigerians fighting for justice and accountability.
About Toyosi
Toyosi Fagbo is a 4th year student on the Creative Digital Media course at TU Dublin Blanchardstown. He is from Nigeria and grew up in Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim. Over the four years at university, Toyosi has grown his expertise, developing a passion for filmmaking and post-production - capturing engaging stories and creating eye-catching visuals. One of his biggest opportunities so far was a five month internship with Coalesce Creatives, which they extended to eight months. At Coalesce Creatives Toyosi gained hands-on experience creating shortform content and editing videos for companies and organisations like UCD, Fingal County Council, Gas Network Ireland and A&L GoodBody. He is ambitious and always pushing his creativity; his hope after graduation is to work at one of the top creative agencies in Ireland.
