Dylan Kirwan - OGHAM
OGHAM is an animated short about Ned the Mutant and Kelly the Elephant.
They live in what used to be the Irish sea, which has now turned into a dry hostile wasteland. The earth is scorched and the seas are dislocated into orbit. The battery Kelly needs to keep her systems operating is inside a hundred-year-old drone stuck in orbit delivering a package to a place that no longer exists. When Kelly's systems fail, it's up to Ned to revive his malfunctioning buddy. The short makes use of scanned pencil drawings digitally coloured and composited, along with Strata-cut Claymation, an experimental and trippy technique made by layering tons of clay and slicing it like bread.
About Dylan
Dylan Kirwan is a Dublin-based Artist and 2D animator. His work focuses on visual storytelling, character animation and linking other mediums like stop-motion and 3D graphics and compositing them into 2D animation. Dylan has created animated content for educational and accessibility initiatives, including projects with Chime (Irish Deaf Charity) and the Irish Teachers' Union. He is experienced in Adobe Animate, Toon Boom, Blender, ClipStudio and After Effects and the Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong foundation in animation principles, storyboarding, and design. His films and animation work have screened at festivals including Animation Dingle, DAMnation, and Dublin Underground Cinema, and has published independent comics and zines internationally.
