Come meet the FolkTrail Friends! A group of fairies inspired by Irish folklore that you can encounter along fairy trails across Ireland.
This project strives to nurture family bonding through story-driven adventures, featuring an app that helps locate fairy trails across Ireland and offers fun and engaging narrative activities focused on revealing the true identities behind Irish fairies. These activities can also be experienced in print form for digital-free enjoyment. FolkTrails consists of three main components: a clear and engaging wayfinding system for real-world trails, an intuitive UX/UI app designed to create meaningful experiences for families, and fun, captivating visual branding that invites children to explore and uncover the stories of the FolkTrail Friends. With FolkTrails, parents and children can create fond and tender memories while discovering the hidden folklore of Ireland's fairies.
About Serena
Serena Nguyen is a motivated learner who is committed to growing both personally and professionally as a multimedia designer. She strives to design clear, engaging experiences using UX/UI, graphic design, and storytelling. Thriving in environments that allow her to explore unconventional and fun ideas aimed at improving the lives of others and putting a smile on people's faces. During her internship at Distilled as a product designer on the DoneDeal design system, she gained expertise in atomic design, design theory, human behaviour, attention to detail and teamwork. Most importantly, she developed a strong commitment to seeking and learning from feedback. Serena has a strong and growing skill set, a solid understanding of the design process, and a background in psychology. She is keen to make a meaningful impact in digital media through collaboration, a positive approach, and continuous learning.
