Leah Roche - Irish Arcana
Irish Arcana: Modern Irish Tarot Deck reimagines the Minor Arcana through contemporary Irish culture.
Instead of traditional tarot imagery, the cards draw on familiar objects and everyday references to represent the same meanings. The project explores how tarot can feel more relatable by grounding it in everyday life, from sport and music to shared social spaces. The visual style is bold and graphic, combining a mixed-media approach with lino-printed textures that are scanned and integrated digitally to create tactile, layered backgrounds. The final outcome is a 56-card Minor Arcana deck, supported by a guidebook and packaging, presenting tarot as both a functional tool and a contemporary design object.
