Carlos Labuni - A Night With Belphis
A Night With Belphis is an animated short that explores the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. Specifically, what people see.
Today, the most commonly described creature witnessed is that of a shadowy figure or some sort of demon. This project gives this "Sleep Paralysis Demon" life and character. We spend one night with this demon, Belphis. After a long stretch of unending work, she finally gets some time to rest. Instead of going to a magic show with her Succubus friend, Cecilia, she gets told by her boss, Belphegor, that she's needed tomorrow and the rest of the weekend. This film was animated on Clip Studio Paint. It was drawn frame by frame, with a few simple movements being interpolated. Inspired by Fantasia, specific orchestral music that would fit the tone were chosen. Two pieces of music were combined together in a way that would flow seamlessly into the story's pace.

Carlos Labuni is a Creative Digital Media graduate with a love of stories, art and animation. Throughout the past 4 years of this course, he discovered an interest in film and making films, not just animation. Learning how to film with cameras and equipment is something he never even considered before. Outside the course, he tells stories with his art. Carlos has his own comic series online that he updates as regularly as he possibly can, which he has been working on since 2017. Along with storytelling, his other passion professional wrestling, which he trains in regularly. Ultimately, he loves to entertain people, and he hopes to continue doing so in the future. No matter the medium or the industry, as long as he has the chance to entertain others, he will be living his dream.
