One of the best aids to becoming a better photographer is to look at other peoples work. Nowadays we are bombarded with images from all directions the web, tv, magazines, newspapers and so on. If you want to become a good photographer you have got to constantly ‘LOOK’ at photos of all kinds. I emphasize the word ‘LOOK’ because you need to really look at the photo not just glance at it.
One of the things I will be asking my Digital Photography students to do is to REALLY LOOK at photos in order to better understand the photographic medium. Next time you see a photo, take the time to ask yourself how it makes you feel, what do you like or dislike about the photo, do you like the colours, do you like the composition and so on…
